UPKO Malaysia Chinese New Year Celebration

Kota Kinabalu: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) will be hosting a Chinese New Year celebration in Pekan Inanam on February 6.
A variety of vibrant performances are set to captivate visitors from all walks of life.
UPKO Sepanggar Division Chief, Datuk Wong Thien Fook, stated that this year’s Chinese New Year celebration will be more festive and meaningful than ever.
He noted that the occasion marks the beginning of the Year of the Snake, which, according to Chinese beliefs, will bring joy, positive energy, and abundant prosperity.
“Therefore, we invite the public and families to take the time to join us in celebrating this colorful festival.
“The event, officiated by UPKO President Datuk Ewon Benedick, will also be attended by state leaders and Chinese community leaders, particularly from the Sepanggar area,” he said.
He made this statement when met after distributing invitation flyers to the public in Pekan Inanam yesterday.
Thien Fook mentioned that the event will begin as early as 5:00 PM with the Jualan Madani program, offering various essential goods at low prices.
He added that it will be followed by lion and dragon dance performances, a magician, and musical performances by renowned guest artists.
“This program will also feature activities such as lou sang, the presence of the God of Wealth, the distribution of ang pow to senior citizens and children, and much more.
