PENAMPANG: The main focus of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Penampang Youth is human capital development.
UPKO Penampang Youth Chief Billy Joe Dominic said at the core of this focus are education, welfare, spirituality, the economy, and the practice of a healthy lifestyle.
As in previous years, UPKO youth have planned various sports and recreational activities to promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth in Penampang, he said, during the Slingshot tournament held at Togob Jetty, Divatto Ramaya, recently.
He said, in addition to sports and recreational activities, UPKO Penampang Youth also encourages young people to participate in welfare activities and volunteer programmes to assist those in need and to care for the environment through community service.
To support this initiative, the UPKO Youth has helped several young people establish associations focusing on welfare and volunteer activities in the Penampang district, he said.
"Among these is the Moyog Community Welfare Association (PMO), led by President Billy Jinawat. "
He, along with the members of the association, assisted in the flood relief mission on June 30, in collaboration with KFC Malaysia, which contributed RM50,000 for this aid effort.
This association also helps underprivileged youth and students continue their education.
"Through youth initiatives, we also have the Seri Prihatin Moyog Penampang (SEHATI) organisation, chaired by Michael Fadilah, along with Belly Stephen, the chairman of the Kobusak Youth Club."
" I understand that Rajani Jojo is in the process of registering the Empathy and Charity Welfare Association of Penampang (PEAKY). I wish continued success to the presidents of these associations and clubs. Together, our youth can achieve great things!"
He also encouraged young people who are interested to form cooperatives and expressed his readiness to assist them
"Cooperatives not only generate income but also ensure the welfare of their members where the children of cooperative members can receive scholarships for further education from ANGKASA, disaster relief assistance, and various other incentives and support if they become members or establish a cooperative. "
"Through youth initiatives, we have successfully established a cooperative led by Michael Fadilah, which is newly formed and operates an Airbnb business at Manhattan Suite ITCC, as well as engaging in ginger farming and freshwater fish farming."
He urged those who wished to communicate with him to meet up with with UPKO youth representatives in their respective villages as well as his social media.
The same applies to those who wished to join UPKO as members.
