PENAMPANG: Marangoi Eco-tourism site, located in Kg Pinolobu, Kota Belud, is a tourism destination in the region, offering opportunities to immerse guests in the natural beauty of the area.
Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairman Jalni Mison said several villagers are involved in tourism endeavours offering experiences that combine adventure, nature, and cultural immersion.
They offer jungle trekking, waterfalls visit, and an insight on the people's way of life, he said.

Eco-tourism destinations always aim to promote sustainable tourism practices, conservation of the environment, and preservation of local traditions while providing visitors with unforgettable experiences in authentic natural setting.
Jalni said these tourism endeavours are by members of their village Cooporative, out of 106 active members who are involved in tourism products and retail.
The waterfalls are quite popular, he said adding that the breathtaking sight of a stunning display of cascading water is always invigorating.
The sight and sound of a waterfall are always mesmerising, of course, and enjoyed by everyone even if that person lives around the area. More so for visitors who are from the urban and suburban areas with limited or no access to waterfalls.

Waterfalls provide habitats for various species of plants and animals, thereby making it more interesting for nature lovers.
It also offers recreational opportunities for visitors seeking to connect with nature and experience the awe-inspiring beauty of these natural wonders.
Jalni said the hiking trails are quite leisurely, but offer beautiful sights of nature and even a view of the distant Mt. Kinabalu.
"We are ready to welcome visitors in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2025. We are in Facebook and of course we are looking into other platforms to promote our products," Jalni shared.
According to him, they are focused on creating a well organised site, clean and visually appealing with improved facilities.
"To enhance the overall ambiance and attractiveness of the area, interesting and suitable decorations will be added. These decorations will reflect the local culture, traditions, or themes that resonate with tourists."
"We will increase promotional efforts to highlight the unique attractions, activities, and experiences that we have to offer."
"We will design and introduce innovative and attractive packages to cater to our tourists need."
Besides, the natural beauty of Kg. Pinolobu, tourists can engage with the locals through Tamu Desa, a traditional rural market.
The Tamu Desa is sited by the cooperative building of Pinolobu, where vendors from the village and other places sell their wares. The products sold include household goods, gardening items, fish, meat, fresh fruits, vegetables, packed food, and drinks.
There are also villagers offering hair cutting services during the Tamu, Jalni said.
According to him, some 500 people throng to the Tamu every time.
He reiterated that they are ready and excited to welcome guests to their village and hope that rural destinations will be highlighted during the VMY2025.- ends
