Women’s Machinery of PGRS Needs to Be the Eyes and Ears of the Government: Redonah

15 September 2024

SEMPORNA: The Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) Women Movement are urged to be vigilant about any emerging issues among the grassroots.

Its leader, Datuk Redonah Bahanda, stated that the party's women's machinery serves as the eyes and ears of the government and should effectively play a role in addressing the problems faced by the people.

According to her, without clear information, it is difficult for the government and relevant agencies to provide the necessary assistance to the public.

"The women's machinery of PGRS is crucial, not only for working to gain support for the party in elections but also for being the eyes and ears of the government.

"Without your cooperation and support, it is challenging for the government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to respond and address the issues and problems of the people," she said.

She made the remarks while speaking at the Annual Meeting of the Women’s Movement of the PGRS for the Senallang division at Hotel Seafest Semporna yesterday.

Also present were the Deputy Chief of the Women’s Movement, Aziah Atoh, the Chief of the Women’s Movement for Senallang, Hainul Asikin Yahya, as well as representatives from the Women’s Movement of Senallang and committee members of the PGRS Senallang division.

According to Redonah, who is also the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, the party's women's machinery must work diligently to provide information and explanations to the grassroots about the direction of Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ).

She stated that the programs and initiatives of SMJ need to be understood and embraced by all parties to ensure smooth and effective implementation.

"Without the public's understanding, it is difficult for the government to carry out projects aimed at achieving progress and the welfare of the people.

"We hope that the existing party machinery can better support the aspirations of SMJ and achieve its goals," she said.
